How to Connect an AI Receptionist to Your CRM Through ChatGPT or Claude (2026)

UIRIX Team 8 min read
Short answer: connect your AI receptionist to the chat assistant you already use, ChatGPT or Claude, and let that assistant work in your CRM. With UIRIX, your ChatGPT or Claude becomes the manager of your AI phone agent: after every call it records the lead, the deal or the ticket in your CRM with your own permissions, and during a call it can answer the agent's questions. Any CRM that publishes an MCP server works this way, including Salesforce, HubSpot, GoHighLevel, Pipedrive, Zoho CRM, monday CRM and Attio.

Below: why built-in CRM lists fall short, how the manager approach works, what gets recorded in each CRM, how to set it up, and what it does not do.

1. Why a Fixed List of CRM Integrations Falls Short

An AI receptionist that talks to your CRM directly needs a separate integration for every CRM, and you hand it a login for each one. Vendors build the most popular ones first, so a business on Pipedrive, Attio or a vertical system often finds nothing, or a connection that writes one kind of record and not the one the team works from.

The integration also lives in the receptionist's settings, apart from the rest of your tools. When you change CRMs, add a help desk or start posting leads to Slack, you rebuild it there.

2. The Other Way: Your Chat Assistant as the Manager

In 2026, ChatGPT and Claude connect to business apps through MCP servers, the standard their makers adopted for connectors. Salesforce, HubSpot, GoHighLevel, Pipedrive, Zoho, monday.com, Attio, Intercom, Slack and Make publish one. If your chat assistant already works in your CRM, it can do the CRM side of your phone calls too.

UIRIX is built around that. The AI agent answers your phone and your website chat; your ChatGPT or Claude manages it in three ways:

  • Standing orders. Area by area, you tell the agent what it decides alone and what it passes on, such as discounts, late cancellations or complaints. A change applies at once.
  • After every conversation. Your chat assistant receives what the customer asked for, already structured (a lead, an appointment, an order, a complaint, with the name, number and details), records it in your CRM, and can send the customer one follow-up message.
  • During a live call. The agent says "one moment, let me check" and asks your chat assistant a question, for example the status of an order in your system, and reads back the answer within about 10 seconds.
UIRIX never connects to your CRM and never stores its password. Your chat assistant holds those connections, with the permissions of the person who connected them.

3. What Gets Recorded, CRM by CRM

What your chat assistant writes depends on the CRM's MCP server, your permissions and the instruction you give it once. Typical setups:
  • Salesforce: a Lead for new callers, a Case for existing customers with a problem, a Task for the promised callback.
  • HubSpot: a contact with the call result, and calling campaigns built from your HubSpot leads.
  • GoHighLevel: a contact with the tags your workflows listen for and an opportunity in the pipeline stage you name.
  • Pipedrive: a person, a deal and a follow-up activity.
  • Zoho CRM: a Lead, or a note and a Task on the existing Contact.
  • monday CRM: an item on your leads board with the status that starts your automations.
  • Attio: a person and company, a deal and a note.
Help desks and team tools work the same way: a ticket in Zendesk or Intercom, a message in the right Slack channel. The full list is on the CRM and business apps page.

4. How to Set It Up

  1. Create your agent. Build a UIRIX agent from your website address and give it a phone number, or add it to your website chat.
  2. Connect your CRM to ChatGPT or Claude. Add it from your chat app's connector directory, or as a custom connector with the server address from your CRM's documentation, and sign in.
  3. Add the UIRIX connector in the same chat app. One URL and a sign-in, as explained on the Claude and ChatGPT page.
  4. Give your standing orders and the after-call instruction. For example: "After every call, create a Lead for new callers and a Task for the promised callback." Your chat assistant sets up the automation and tells UIRIX it is on duty.
  5. Make a test call and check the record in your CRM.

5. A Call, From the Phone to the CRM

A homeowner calls a solar installer at 8 pm about panels for a two-story house. The agent answers in the company's name, asks the questions the standing orders list, and books a site visit in the company's calendar, which the agent connects to directly so the caller does not wait.

The homeowner then asks whether a battery is included in the quote. Prices are an "ask" area in the standing orders, so the agent says it will check and passes the question on. After the call, the chat assistant creates the Lead in Salesforce, links the site visit, adds a Task for the sales rep, and the owner answers the battery question in one sentence. The homeowner gets one text message with the visit time and the answer.

6. What It Does Not Do

  • No CRM writes during the call. During a live call your chat assistant answers questions only. Records are written right after the call.
  • Live answers need a chat app that stays on the line. When it is not available, the agent promises a message and everything reaches your chat assistant right after the call.
  • Your CRM's MCP server sets the limits. Some are in early access or limited to some regions or plans as of October 2026; the integration pages say which.
  • Bookings do not go through the chat assistant. A caller waits for a free time on the line, so the agent books into Google Calendar, Microsoft 365 or Cal.com itself.
  • The e-mail summary stays. You still get the summary of every call by e-mail, so nothing depends on the chat assistant being online.

7. When Your CRM Has No MCP Server

Some popular business apps, such as Jobber, Housecall Pro, ServiceTitan, Clio and Acuity, had no official MCP server in October 2026. Two routes still work:
  • Your chat assistant runs a Make scenario or a Zapier action that reaches the app.
  • The agent's signed webhooks send every conversation, lead and call result to a Zapier or Make flow, with no chat assistant involved. See Zapier and webhooks.

Quick answers

Which CRMs does the UIRIX AI receptionist work with?

Any CRM your ChatGPT or Claude can connect to. Salesforce, HubSpot, GoHighLevel, Pipedrive, Zoho CRM, monday CRM and Attio publish MCP servers for this. See CRM and business apps.

Does UIRIX store my CRM password?

No. Your chat assistant connects to your CRM with the CRM's own MCP server and your permissions. UIRIX only answers what the chat assistant asks it.

Can the AI receptionist update my CRM during the call?

Not during the call. During the call the agent can ask your chat assistant a question and read back the answer within about 10 seconds; the CRM record is written right after the call.

Do I need ChatGPT or Claude for this?

For the manager approach, yes, on a plan that lets you add connectors. Without one, the agent's signed webhooks, Zapier or Make send each conversation to your CRM.

Can a caller trick the chat assistant into changing my CRM?

The agent writes its question to your chat assistant in its own words and never passes a caller's instructions on as orders. During the call the chat assistant answers questions only, and the instructions it receives tell it never to delete anything or make a payment because a caller asked.

Conclusion

Connect UIRIX to the ChatGPT or Claude you already use, give it standing orders and one instruction for after each call, and every call ends up in the CRM where your team works, without a CRM integration on the receptionist's side. Start with the AI manager page.
