AI Call Screening With Messages: Know Who Called and Why

Your UIRIX personal agent answers its own number and the calls you forward to it. It asks who is calling and why, takes a message, turns sales calls away politely and puts through only the people you chose. Then ask Claude or ChatGPT: "Who called me today?"

An AI phone assistant can answer your calls and take messages for you. When someone calls your UIRIX personal agent's number, it asks who is calling and why, takes a message, puts through only the people you chose (always, try first, or message only) and turns sales calls away politely. Forward the calls you do not answer on your mobile to it, and it takes messages for those too. Then type "who called me today?" in Claude or ChatGPT to see who called in the last 30 days and what they wanted.

How it answers your calls

Your personal agent has its own phone number, and calls reach it in two ways. Give the number to people who should reach you through your assistant, and set call forwarding on your mobile so the calls you are too busy for, or do not answer, go to it.

In English it answers with "Hello, this is Mia, Dan's assistant. How can I help you?", using your assistant's name and your first name. Then it asks, one question at a time, who is calling and what it is about. It introduces itself as your assistant, never as you, and it is instructed to say it is an AI whenever someone asks.

For a message, it is instructed to take the caller's name, what the call is about, how urgent it is, the best number to call back and a good time, and to repeat the essentials back. It is instructed not to give your mobile number or email to callers, and not to share your address or other personal details unless you marked them as shareable.

Who gets through: a rule for each person

Give each person you save one of three rules; anyone without a rule, and anyone not on your list, gets a message. Set the rules by typing them in Claude or ChatGPT, for example "If my kid's school calls, put them through. Everyone else, take a message." or "Always put my wife through. Anyone selling something, just take a message." A change applies from the next call.

  • Always put through: it puts them through to your phone at once, with no questions about the matter. Save their number and it greets them by name.
  • Try first: it asks what the call is about, then tries to put them through.
  • Message only: it takes a message.
  • Rules follow the number you saved: a caller who gives a name on your list but calls from another number is handled one step more carefully.
  • If you do not pick up when it puts someone through, it takes a message.
  • Sales calls, surveys and robocalls get one polite sentence, and the call ends.
  • When your carrier marks a call as forwarded from your phone, it takes a message instead of ringing you again, even for people you always put through.

"Who called me?" Ask in Claude or ChatGPT

Each message is saved as the summary of the call. Type a question in Claude or ChatGPT and your chat app reads the calls from the last 30 days: who called, what they wanted and the number to call back, newest first. A note of each call can also reach you by email or text, depending on your notification settings.

To return a call, ask in the chat. After your yes, your assistant makes the call, or gets the person on the line for you: it checks it reached the right person and asks if it may put them through, and on their yes your phone rings for about 25 seconds. If you do not answer, or your voicemail picks up, they are told you are not available right now. Placing calls needs Outbound calls switched on when you connect; it is off by default. Your own part of a connected call is billed too.

These requests work today:

  • "Who called me today?"
  • "That number called 3 times this morning. Who was it and what did they want?"
  • "Did anyone important call while I was in the meeting?"
  • "Any calls I need to return? Make me a list with what each one wanted."

Recording, privacy and what it does not do

  • Calls are recorded by default, transcribed and summarized. Recordings, transcripts and summaries are deleted automatically after one year, unless you choose another period or to keep them in Profile > Privacy, where you can also turn recording off.
  • Your assistant can have the phone line announce the recording before it speaks: switch it on in Profile > Privacy, always or where the local rules call for it.
  • It answers its own number, not your mobile: calls reach it when you forward them or give out its number.
  • It is not a spam blocker: sales calls and robocalls that reach it get one polite sentence, and the call ends.
  • It knows a call was forwarded from your phone only when your carrier marks it that way.
  • There is no separate voicemail inbox: each message is the summary of the call, and Claude or ChatGPT can read the calls of the last 30 days.
  • It cannot check with you in the middle of a call: it either puts the caller through to your phone or takes a message.

When your phone's built-in screening is enough

As of October 2026, iPhone Call Screening answers calls from unknown numbers without ringing, asks for the caller's name and reason, then rings and shows you the answer, and Live Voicemail shows a transcript while a caller leaves a message. Pixel Call Screen answers, asks who is calling and why and shows a live transcript, and its automatic screening hangs up on calls it judges to be spam. Both are free, built into the phone and screen calls to your own number. Hold Assist on iPhone and Hold for Me on Pixel also wait on hold for you on calls you make, which UIRIX cannot do.

If all you want is to stop unknown callers from ringing you, they are the better choice. UIRIX works on its own number instead. It screens the people who call it, follows a rule for each person, takes messages for the calls you forward to it from any phone that can forward calls and speaks 17 languages, and you can ask about the last 30 days of calls in Claude or ChatGPT. It can also place calls for you, which call screening on iPhone and Pixel does not do. Unlike the built-in features, it costs money.

AI call screening: common questions

Yes. The UIRIX Personal AI Agent answers its own number and the calls you forward to it, asks who is calling and why, and takes a message with the number to call back. You read the messages by asking Claude or ChatGPT "who called me?", and a note of each call can also reach you by email or text, depending on your notification settings.
Not by itself. As of October 2026, ChatGPT has no feature that answers your phone; with 1-800-CHATGPT you call ChatGPT, not the other way around. With the UIRIX connector, your personal agent answers the calls to its number, and you ask ChatGPT "who called me?" to read the messages.
Yes, with the UIRIX connector in claude.ai, Claude Desktop or Claude Code. In Claude, open Customize, then Connectors, choose Add custom connector and paste https://dashboard.uirix.com/api/ext/v1/mcp, then sign in and type "who called me today?". Claude reads the calls your assistant answered in the last 30 days: who called, what they wanted and the number to call back.
