Call Forwarding in Canada: Codes and Settings by Carrier
How to send the calls you miss to another number, such as your AI receptionist, on Rogers, Fido, Bell, Virgin Plus and Koodo mobiles and on Canadian home and business lines, and how to turn it off.
Updated
On Rogers and Fido mobiles, dial *67* and the 10-digit number, then #, to forward calls when you are busy; *61*number# when you do not answer; *62*number# when your phone is off or out of signal; and *21*number# for all calls. ##67#, ##61#, ##62# and ##21# turn them off. Conditional forwarding on Rogers and Fido does not work while voicemail is on. Bell and Virgin Plus set forwarding in the phone's Call settings, and Lucky Mobile does not offer it. Canadian carriers forward only to +1 numbers and often charge for the forwarded minutes, so forward to a local Canadian number.
What Canadian carriers say
- Rogers and Fido: conditional forwarding (busy, no answer, unreachable) does not work while voicemail is activated. Check a forward with *#67#, *#61#, *#62# or *#21# on Rogers.
- Fido: forwarded minutes are charged pay-per-use unless you have a Call Forwarding add-on, long distance applies outside your local area, and only Canadian and US numbers can be used.
- Bell: go to your phone's Call settings > Call forwarding (on Google Pixel: Phone > Settings > Calling accounts > Bell > Call forwarding; on Samsung: Phone > Settings > Supplementary services > Call forwarding). "Deactivate All" brings your voicemail back. Forwarding costs $0.25 a minute unless you add the monthly option in MyBell.
- Koodo: add Call Forwarding in Self Serve > Mobile services > Manage add-ons for $5 a month.
- Telus, Freedom Mobile, Videotron, Public Mobile and Chatr: check with your carrier for its forwarding codes and charges.
Home and business landlines in Canada
- Bell: *72, wait for three beeps and the dial tone, then the number; if the number answers, stay on the line five seconds. *73 turns it off. You need Call Forwarding on your line.
- Rogers home phone: *72 + 10-digit number for all calls, *90 when busy and *92 when not answered (after four rings), off with *73, *91 and *93; or the Home & Away Online Manager > Forwarding. Busy and no-answer forwarding is only available without voicemail.
- Shaw (now Rogers): *72 + number and *73 to turn off; *94 sets 2 to 9 rings before voicemail.
- Telus: *90 (busy) and *92 (no answer) to a number Telus programs when you order the feature, off with *91 and *93; *94 sets 2 to 9 rings.
Forward to a local number
Forward to a number in your own country. US carriers do not forward to international numbers, and in Israel Bezeq forwards only to Israeli numbers, so your UIRIX agent's number should be local. Numbers come from 27 countries. In the US, Canada, Israel and Puerto Rico a number is ready at once; in 23 more, such as the UK, Germany, France, Australia, Japan, Brazil and Mexico, the telephony provider first reviews your details and documents, usually in 1 to 3 business days.
What happens when the call reaches your AI receptionist
- Your agent answers in your business's name, day and night, in 17 languages: it answers from your website and documents, takes messages and leads, books appointments where you connect a calendar, and can put the caller through to a person you choose.
- When your carrier marks the call as forwarded, the agent knows it came through your line: it never reads your business number back as the caller's own, and it asks for a callback number when it needs one.
- Calls are recorded (on by default), transcribed and summarized in your dashboard, and you can get the summary by e-mail.
- If the agent transfers callers to a person, use a number that does not forward back to the agent (a mobile or a direct line), so a call cannot loop between the two.

Forward your missed calls in Canada to an AI receptionist
- 1
Get a Canadian number for your agent
Create your UIRIX agent and give it a Canadian phone number in the dashboard: it is ready at once.
- 2
Turn on forwarding
On Rogers or Fido dial the three codes with the agent's number (with voicemail off); on Bell or Virgin Plus use the phone's Call settings.
- 3
Call yourself while busy
From a second phone, call your business number while your phone is on another call (or you decline the call). Your agent should answer.
- 4
Call yourself and do not answer
Let it ring. After the delay you set, your agent should answer. If voicemail answers instead, voicemail is still catching the call first.
